Welcome Moorpark College Students!!

A thank you to the Moorpark College students of Professor Barnett's Research Methods course. I had a wonderful time working with you all this morning. The Internet

In the sections below, we focus our efforts on highlighting major themes having to do with the Internet.

We name some of the network's pioneers; we propose sites that teach us more about how online behavioral advertising works; we learn how to find sources of online content; and we list the governing authorities of the Internet.

What's the Difference between the Internet and the Web?
The Internet is a global network - connecting computers and devices - on which other networks can be found. One of the most popular of these "sub-networks" is the Web. There can be no Web without the Internet, but there can be an Internet without the Web.

For analogy's sake: the Internet is the electricity that runs through one's home to power various appliances; the Web is one of those appliances.

In this section users can consult traffic data sites and learn about segmentation (e.g., Audience Science; ComScore) and online behavioral advertising & tracking (e.g., CrazyEgg). Consulting user data traffic is a great way to see what keywords are the most generated by region (e.g., Google Analytics; Google Trends), the worldwide ranking of websites, the audiences in the aggregate that consult these top sites, and the clickstream thereof (e.g., Alexa; Quantcast).

Clickstream = Upstream + Downstream

Upstream: The site visited directly before the site in question
Downstream: The site visited directly following the site in question.

Ex.: Google --> Information Research Online --> Audience Science

Downstream = Audience Science
